“Lakbay Balik-kasan” is a term rooted from the words ‘balik’ (return) and ‘kalikasan’ (nature). The design proposal of the community and amenities center provides an experience of journey (‘lakbay’) through the Batangas province’s last remaining forests, otherwise inaccessible by foot, lending visitors a unique experience and appreciation of the land. The natural terrain calls for contextual sensitivity. Integration of local materials and sustainable strategies add to the prestige of the structure as a building that complements its environment while reducing carbon footprint.
